Volunteer Opportunities we have now
Seniors Phone Support Volunteer:
Phone Support Volunteers must enjoy talking with seniors, practice empathetic listening skills and be non-judgmental, provide an up to date criminal records clearance, read, understand, and sign a confidentiality form.
Phone support volunteers can either work out of our North Delta or Ladner office. Although we call our seniors Monday to Friday our busiest days are Mondays and Wednesdays so we are interested in volunteers that could help on those days the most. Volunteers can work any number of set days per week but must make a commitment as the seniors that receive the calls do so every week. Arrangements can be made after sufficient training and experience to make the calls to the seniors from your home.
Help seniors maintain their independence by driving them to and from medical appointments. This is an on-going flexible position. Must enjoy working with seniors and have a clean driver’s abstract. There is reimbursement for mileage.
Seniors Phone Shopping Volunteers:
The Deltassist Phone Shop Program is looking for volunteers to shop for seniors. The program takes place on Tuesday mornings at the Safeway in North Delta. You will have lots of fun with an amazing group of volunteers.

Bread Gleaning is every Wednesday from approximately 9am – 12pm. Drivers are needed to pick up boxes of bread at 8:30am and deliver to our North Delta office. This position involves moderate, repetitive lifting, a clean driver’s abstract and a criminal records check. Drivers will be reimbursed for mileage.
Volunteer Handyman, North Delta Office:
To help with small handyman projects around our North Delta office. This volunteer position would involve duties such as changing lights, small repair jobs, lawn care and property maintenance. This is mostly an on call situation but on average it would be 2-3 times per month. If you are interested in this volunteer position and feel you have these skills we would be very interested in meeting with you.
We are seeking a volunteer with a green thumb to help us keep our flowers, plants and trees healthy. We are looking for someone to come and water our plants and trees two times per week for approximately one hour throughout the summer. Flexible schedule.
